Brazil Rules Let Consumers Trade Renewable Power to Utilities


Brazil issued rules allowing homes and businesses to offset the energy they consume with power generated by rooftop solar systems and other renewable energy sources.
Utility customers will generate credits from wind, solar, biomass and hydroelectric power plants that may be traded for electricity, the Brasilia-based power regulator Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica said yesterday on its website.
