False nuclear details

The lies and deceit that characterise the promotion of nuclear energy as an energy source muddy the debate considerably.
The "Corruption of Governance" report (available on the website ukace.org) gives details regarding how the government's decision to build new nuclear power stations in the UK was based on misrepresentations of the facts and false information.
A report from Reuters on May 8 "Nuclear build requires taxpayer rescue" explains that due to spiralling cost of building nuclear power plant (EDF raised the cost from £4.5 billion to £7 billion last year) nuclear power, in reality, is the most expensive form of energy generation and City analyst Peter Atherton is quoted saying: "If the latest cost figures are true, new nuclear power plants in the UK are not commercially viable."
I wonder if, in this context, Mr Hole still believes that there is no alternative to renewing nuclear (letter in last week's paper).
When he says: "Several simple systems of managing this decreasingly toxic waste are already in place all over the world", unfortunately for all of us, this is simply untrue.
