Seattle City Lights Seeking Renewable Energy Proposals

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Northwestern utility company Seattle City Light is calling for proposals for up to 150,000 MWh of renewable energy or renewable energy credits per year, beginning in 2020.

Seattle City Light says it will consider a broad range of proposals, technologies and contractual arrangements, but the utility says it prefers baseload or dispatchable resources to complement its existing supply resources, which are predominately hydroelectric.

Seattle City Light requires potential providers to demonstrate that they have the creditworthiness to develop proposals offered and deliver the energy or renewable credits over the indicate length of the contract.

Proposals must also be eligible for Washington's renewable portfolio standards, which were approved by voters in 2006.
