Solar and wind hybrid power for expressway

Solar and Wind hybrid project is designed, manufactured and installed by Ageco (pvt) Ltd (Economia) at Gujranwala - Lahore expressway. The project was designed on turnkey bases for NHA funded by the World Bank to execute a 4 phase plan of which 3rd is being completed and the 4th phase is in progress. 

The project encompasses road street lights, lighting for motor vehicle underpass, pedestrian underpass and de-watering of road interchanges. The source of energy is solar and wind hybrid system. The project 4th phase will be completed in December 2012. Phases 1, 2 and 3 are already completed and public use. 

Ageco (pvt) Ltd took the initiative to convince the government to illuminate the roads country wide using solar power at zero cost against giving advertisement rights placed on the solar powered street light poles. For this venture a demo solar powered street light was placed at Jinnah avenue opposite to NICL building which is operating satisfactorily for the last 4 months. The government was kind to issue a policy letter for this venture.
