India's off-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) market has three major segments: captive power plants (where the majority of generation is consumed at the source), telecom towers, and rural electrification. The market potential for these PV segments has created an off-grid solar market in India forecasted to install more than 1 gigawatt per year by 2016.
